The Men’s Winter Refuge in Minot welcomes residents to stay the night in a home with heat, food, laundry, and a warm shower.
Their executive director says it was unfortunate to see Ruth Meiers close, but adds that they are prepared to house those who need it.
And they have, one resident who stayed at Ruth Meiers in Bismarck is now at the Minot shelter, getting the services and help he needs.
“He was able to get a ride to Minot through the United Way in Bismarck and so he’s staying at our shelter now and he’s doing great and he’s been able to reconnect with family and is looking into getting a couple full time jobs,” said Mike Zimmer, Men’s Winter Refuge Executive Director.
The Men’s Winter Refuge can hold up to 15 residents at a time.
Currently there are only 4.
