Data and information are key when it comes to predicting the weather.
The more the better — and you can be a part of it.
Meteorologists are looking for people to join the ‘Community Collaborative, Rain, Hail & Snow Network’.
It is made up of volunteer weather observers that measure daily precipitation, snowfall, and snow depth.
Tyler Kranz, National Weather Service, says, “The information that they give off helps us significantly with monitoring the drought conditions — for one that would probably be the most important thing. Number two, it helps us verify snow storms, heavy rainfall events, how much snow fell, how much heavy rain fell.”
