Significantly faster internet service is now available in the Bismarck-Mandan area.
Midcontinent announced Wednesday morning that Midco Xstream Gig is available in seven communities in the Bismarck region for 99 dollars a month.
The internet service provider says the new gigabit service can reach speeds “35 times faster than the average high-speed internet.”
Governor Doug Burgum and Bismarck Mayor Mike Seminary both praised the upgrade.
Midco’s executive vice president says it took a lot of work from a lot of people to make the speed boost possible.
“The level of effort involved behind the scenes that goes into an announcement like we have today is just hard to measure. We’re just really proud of the team we have and the dedication and the effort that they’ve put into it,” says Executive, VP, CFO of Midco Steve Grosser.
Gigabit service is also available in the Fargo and Grand Forks areas.
Grosser says nearly every community in North Dakota will have access to the service by the end of 2017.
