Food pantries in the Minot area are stocked more than ever thanks to a little competition.
The Minot Area Community Foundation held it’s 2nd annual Food Pantry Challange.
A total of more than 16,000 pounds of food were collected by various organizations in the area.
An additional $5,500 dollars went back to Minot’s local food pantries.
This year Zion Luthern Church collected the most food.
“I think the important piece is that this is a team effort of both churches businesses, schools and families to provide this service for our community and by everyone pitching in the way they can do so really helps,” said Gerald Roise from Lord’s Cupboard Food Pantry.
He adds that the Lords Food Pantry can’t stay open solely on food donations and they spend about 5,000 monthly on food.
