Among the more than 500 people injured in the shooting, Andrew Gudmunson of Minot is one of them.
He was there with his girlfriend McKenna Larson, and friends Preston Phillips and Jessica Demory – also of Minot.
Friends and family in the community have taken to social media to show their support for Gudmunson and his family.
“You see all this stuff on TV, and as horrible as it looks like, it just doesn’t make sense until someone you love is there and a part of that,” Paige Phillips said.
Paige’s brother Preston and his fiancée were on vacation with Andrew Gudmunson and his girlfriend when Gudmunson was shot and severely injured in the Las Vegas attack Sunday night.
He was the only one hurt among the group.
“Seeing the videos for the first time and all that is absolutely terrible that they were there and experienced it,” Phillips said.
Paige and her brother didn’t get to talk much – but when they did – the words were far and few, and from the heart.
She explained them as, “basically just the ‘I love you’ text and then him responding, ‘pray for Goody.'”
And they’re not the only ones praying
The Minot community is showing signs of solidarity, posting words of prayer and support, or to put it simply, #GoodyStrong.
“Andrew has a great attitude about life and is positive,” Dorothy Martwick, owner and broker at Century 21 Action Realtors, Gudmundon’s employer, said.
“And so, you know, I believe he will make a full recovery and in fact the doctors – my latest report is that they’re optimistic for that.”
“I hope that he makes a full recovery and that he shouldn’t worry about anything and we’ve got his back and we’ll take care of it,” Lisa Olson, Gudmunson’s colleague said.
Martwick said, “Just get better!”
It shows all over social meda that his friends are, of course, wishing the same.
