Minot Facing Several Car Break-Ins

Over the last three days, the Minot Police Department confirmed that sixteen car break ins happened and eight of those were in northwest Minot at the North Highland apartments.

One of the residents had her car broken into.

She says that there was no damage and nothing was taken but the door and the glove box were left open.

The police identified that many of the break ins are to cars that are unlocked or have valuables sitting out in the open.

“You don’t know what they’re going to do and so I think that if they’re definitely the type of people that will come to the same spot multiple days in a row to steal out of people’s cars what makes you think that they’re not going to come into your apartment.” said Minot Resident.

“If you’re vehicle is parked outside and you have a garage door opener they are taking that opportunity to hit the garage door opener to open the garage and that gives them access as well so the biggest thing is locking the vehicles.” said Captain John Klug, Investigations Commander.

The Minot Police Department don’t have any suspects.

They encourage people to call if they see anything suspicious.
