A 24-year-old man now officially faces eight felony counts in connection with three gun-related incidents in Minot in the past week.
Javontez Barnes appeared in North Central District Court today and was charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault, robbery, burglary, and four counts of reckless endangerment.
Barnes is accused of shooting and critically wounding a 24-year-old man in a residence in south Minot early Saturday morning.
He’s also charged with assaulting a woman at that residence.
Investigators say about 40 minutes before that shooting, he and 26-year-old Randolph Garbutt tried to hold up Cash Wise Foods in Minot but failed when the worker refused to hand over any money.
Garbutt was charged today with Robbery and Burglary.
The four reckless endangerment charges against Barnes stem from an incident Wednesday where police say he fired a gun several times inside an apartment complex – no one was hurt.
The judge in the case set preliminary hearings for Barnes and Garbutt for next month.
