The North Dakota League of Cities has named Minot the city of the year.

This award was established in 1984 and recognizes the cities for the quality, number, and progressiveness of activities undertaken in the community.

Key components that earned Minot the honor was the completion of the downtown revitalization project, the Northwest Area Water Supply Project, the Flood Protection Project, and the completion to protect the Water Treatment Plant.

This is the first time that Minot has won the award.
