This week is spring clean up in Minot.
Residents are taking full advantage of this week’s clean up.
Last year, the city collected a record-setting 60 tons of waste. Over 90 tons was collected on Monday alone.
They do ask that you limit the number of appliances you put out to two.
But furniture, trash bags or any junk you don’t need will be picked up free of charge.
There are some things the city won’t pick up.
“One thing that we do want to encourage people is not to put out any of those hazardous materials like paints, or stains, or propane tanks, things like that,” said Derek Hackett, Public Informations Officer, City of Minot.
“We have a special collection on Friday and Saturday for that–our household hazardous waste collection, that’s where they bring it to public works and then we will recycle those wastes. We will recycle old computers and TVs as well and dispose of everything properly, we don’t want that stuff in our landfill,” he added.
People have been driving around looking for items to take.
You know what they say– one man’s trash is another man’s treasure.
And if you missed your trash day — don’t worry — you can drop off any unneeded material at the landfill all week for free.
