Minot Teachers Prepare For Year

Back to school excitement isn’t just for students — it’s for teachers too.

Minot Public Schools teachers and staff claimed a new theme for the year: ‘Have the Heart of a Teacher.’

Superintendent Dr. Mark Vollmer says you don’t have to be a teacher to have the heart of one; it just comes back to putting kids first.

He says the last five years have been marred by the flood — and finding enough space to handle a growing student population.

He says this year, they’re getting back to the basics: Have the Heart of a Teacher and teach compassion and empathy.

Minot Public Schools will also be incorporating the theme into the school year by drawing attention to the good things happening in the district.

(Dr. Mark Vollmer, Superintendent Minot Public Schools) “We have such a great staff here and we’re going to celebrate this year and have a heart of a teacher. What does it mean to have a heart of a teacher? To be caring and compassionate and to care about kids and family and community. I think it’s going to be a fun message that we’re going to focus on this year.”

Minot Public Schools will start classes on Wednesday.
