For the first time in 16 years, teachers and the Minot School Board have reached impasse in contract negotiations.

The two sides agreed tonight that they could not reach agreement on a new contract that covers the district’s 650-plus teachers.

The school board meets tomorrow and will likely report to the governor’s fact finding commission that it has reached impasse with teachers..

It’s the first time since 2002 that the school and teachers have been unable to negotiate a contract.
