In the well known movie Forrest Gump, Tom Hanks plays a man with many talents.
One of those was running across the country.
Now, a man a from England is taking on the Forrest Gump challenge.
Alexus Arthur explains.
The famous quote started as “Run Forrest Run”.
“I’m basically recreating Forrest Gump’s entire run multiple times across America.” said Rob Pope, Liverpool, England Runner.
And he’s embracing everything about it.
“I just felt like running.” said Pope.
His journey began when he got to America from England.
“I set off from Mobile, Alabama on the 15th of September and I ran to Santa Monica in California. Ran all the way to Maine and now run back from Maine by Chicago and now to here.” said Pope.
He started the American Adventure two hundred twenty six days ago and every day he’s been running an average of 40 miles.
“The physical side of things, something always hurts but even that then all translates to mental. I just try to break it up into chunks.” said Pope.
He’s running like the wind blows but he’s doing it for a reason.
“I’m running for the world wildlife fund and peace direct.” said Pope.
Running from sun rise to sun down.
Another 7,000 miles will keep him on his toes.
“The best part is the people.” said Pope.
And he’ll hopefully reach his ultimate goal.
“If I get to finish in the same place in the desert that Tom Hanks did in Forrest Gump you know I think that would be a special moment as well.” said Pope.
He just has to remember, Run Rob Run. On Highway 52, Alexus Arthur, KX News.
He’s on his way to Minot and is hoping to be in Williston by Sunday.
