Airports across Western North Dakota saw an increase in the number of passengers traveling.
According to the North Dakota Aeronautics Commission, in February – Bismarck airport has seen numbers consistently go up, Williston and Dickinson have seen a rise for the first time in three years, and Minot has seen an increase for the first time in 5 years.
When airports have more people traveling in and out, it helps boost the economy.
For example, in Minot hotel occupancy’s have gone up and so have hotel rates.
“It has an impact on our entire community. Not only from the hotel standpoint but also for restaurants, gas, shopping, all those things are affected,” said Phyllis Burckhard, Visit Minot Executive Director.
Fargo airport saw a 5.80 percent increase.
Grand Forks dropped 10.08 percent.
