After recent flooding reports in Mandan. Morton County officials are still monitoring water levels along the Heart River west of Mandan.
Officials say ice jams are affecting the flow of the river, and Business Loop I94 may be shut down if water continues to back up.
Along the river, there are no road closures or accidents, but water levels are affecting some businesses and residents.
People are ask people to stay away from area as much as possible.
“This is probably the earliest in the year that this much that we have seen in a long time around here. As long as we can keep the water flowing then it will be alright but what the unknown is if there are any jams that will cause any backflow. That is something that we can’t predict,” said Kyle Kirchmeier, Morton County Sheriff.
The flooding from the Heart River and Missouri River caused Fort Abraham Lincoln State Park to temporarily close its campground.
