The mother of a baby murdered in late April was in court today for violating the terms of her probation.
22-year-old Jennyfer Lopez is not responsible for the death of her infant daughter. It was Jose Rivera-Rieffel that pled not guilty to the murder with extreme indifference to another human life charge in October.
Lopez was in court after being on probation for contributing to the deprivation of the child.
An important condition of her probation was to stop all contact with Rivera-Rieffel. Burleigh County State’s Attorney Julie Lawyer says Lopez broke this rule within a week of her release.
Her lawyer says Lopez contacted Rivera-Rieffel in an attempt to find out what happened to her child.
The Judge ultimately decided not to revoke her probation. However, he sent a strong warning that if contact is attempted again, Lopez will be headed to prison.
