Members of the North Dakota Senate voted against a bill making it illegal to discriminate against people based on their sexual orientation or gender identity when it comes to fair housing and employment.

The bill failed by a 20 to 27 vote.

There is a similar bill in the House, HB 1441.

That bill does not yet have a scheduled committee hearing.
