Minot State is celebrating our veterans with a different holiday today.
It hosted an event today for National Poppy Day.
After World War One ended, the American Legion adopted the poppy as a symbol of Freedom.
So, M-S-U honored our veterans today with a Poppy Day event.
It included a brief history on Memorial Day and the poppy flower.
“Just trying to make sure people remember that all of the freedoms and things that we enjoy, there were people who helped provide those for us, and to just reflect and go back to remember those things.” said Andy Heitkamp, Veterans Service Director at MSU.
There was also a search and discover journey around the cemetery on M-S-U to find out more about the Veteran’s buried there.
