The North Dakota Census Office released children poverty numbers in their August report.

In the report, it outlines the race and age trends in impoverished children. About 20 percent are less than 2 years of age. The census bureau micro data analysis show about half of American Indian children are in poverty. 40 percent of black children, 20 percent of Hispanic children, and 9 percent of white children.

The report also showed how the difference in household structure can play a role in child poverty.
From 2012 to 2016 the survey estimates over 21 thousand children are below the poverty line.
That is 13 percent of children in the state.
