ND WWII Vet To Raise Flag At Twins Game

A highly-decorated World War Two veteran from North Dakota is in Minneapolis, ready to honor the flag in front of a big crowd.
Lynn Aas will get to raise the American flag as part of pre-game ceremonies at Friday night’s Minnesota Twins game.

The 97-year-old Aas has received many honors for his military service, including the Bronze Star and Purple Heart.
Recently, he was presented the French Legion of Honor Medal and served as the grand marshal for the North Dakota State Fair Parade two years ago.
Aas says getting to be part of the flag ceremony for the Twins will add to his list of special moments.

(Lynn Aas, WWII Veteran) “It’s an honor. It truly is an honor to be invited. There are not many people who actually fought in World War Two who are able to participate and I’m one of them that can.”

Aas says he has 44 tickets for family members to attend the Friday night game as the Twins take on Baltimore.
