More than 2,000 people have donated to the families.

On Saturday June 9th around 2:30 p.m., a 41-year-old Minot man was operating a jet ski alone when he was ejected from the watercraft. The jet ski continued uncontrolled toward a boat towing two inner tubes carrying two people per tube. One of the tubes carrying two 10-year-old girls was struck by the jet ski.

Following the collision, the two girls were taken to shore. The young girl who died was airlifted and later  passed away in a St. Paul, Minneapolis hospital. The second girl was transported by a family vehicle until they were met by a Minot ambulance, she remains hospitalized at Gillette Children’s Specialty Hospital in St. Paul.

The KX news team spoke to several residents, none willing to go on camera. They tell us four families are hurting right now -two of them cabin owners.

Alcohol does not appear to be a contributing factor. The incident remains under investigation by the McLean County Sheriff’s Department and North Dakota Game and Fish. At this point no charges are pending against the man who was operating the jet ski.
