Bismarck – Parents looking to get more involved in their child’s experience in school now have a new option.
State Superintendent Kirsten Baesler announced today the creation of a “Family Engagement Cabinet”.
The goal of the cabinet is to give parents and other family members the chance to speak directly to the superintendent about new or different ways to improve education across North Dakota.
Those who are interested in becoming a member of the cabinet must apply by Thursday, April 25th.
Applicants must also include a letter describing themselves and why they want to be on the cabinet.
Baesler said she hopes the cabinet is as successful as the “Student Cabinet” which was created last year.
“The cabinet give me advice and opioonds on education policy, and they have influenced North Dakota Public Policy on a number of issues. I would like the North Dakota Family Engagement Cabinet to work in much the same way” Said Baesler.
She adds they hope to have around 20 people serve on the cabinet.
They plan on meeting quarterly with the first meeting hopefully taking place near the end of May.
