Just over half of North Dakota employees work in a place employing less than 500 people. This according to the U.S. Small Business Administration which shows over 4,000 of those small businesses are in the Arts, Entertainment, and Recreation industry.

Marcus Lyons co-founded a group in Colorado to help connect people in the creative business and he hopes to grow a similar community, here, in North Dakota. Each month, he hopes to bring people together to network and learn from the others’ successes and failures.

“It seemed like we were forming in groups that weren’t communicating with each other. So, the idea was kind of create an environment that was friendly and accepting and supporting of all of the arts,” says Marcus Lyons, Creative Minot.

Next month’s meet-up will feature Kim Konikow of the N-D Council of the Arts as a guest speaker.
