The first phase of Bismarck’s newest park is under construction right now and it has a pretty hefty price tag.
300 thousand dollars to be exact.
But according to the executive director of parks and recreation, that money will bring immense opportunities to families in our community.
Over the last few years, 6 of these neighborhood parks have been completed.
Right now I’m standing where Horizon Park is soon to open in this newer development in Bismarck.
As you can see, it’s under construction right now.
By September though, there will be a play area for kids, a looping trail with exercise equipment, and a community garden.
I spoke with Randy Bina, who says building parks in these new areas is a priority for them, in order to provide entertainment for families.
“All of the neighborhood parks have been developed in areas that our strategic plan has shown the community is in need of a neighborhood park. So, we feel very good about that moving forward. Development of parks in new growth areas is one of our focus areas,” said Bina.
Phase 2 of the park will develop next summer, and that phase will include 2 tennis courts, and a sport court.
Lots of new things to come in this beautiful area.
