Nordic Steel Systems hope to bring over 100 jobs to Mandan

News

The Mandan Pitch Challenge brought in entrepreneurs from all over North Dakota to explain why they should be the newest business in town. Nordic Steel Systems, a new manufacturing business, took home the $10,000 forgivable loan first prize.

Nordic Steel Systems not only saves builders time, but also gives consumers a more efficient product. Their biggest selling point how long the material lasts.

Their product doesn’t only reduce financial cost but reduces framing labor cost by 30% or more,
reduces completion time by 30% or more, and reduces landfill waste by 40% or more.

One judge said it was that fact alone, that has them ready to welcome in the new company

“That business in particular has the most potential as far as scalability. That’s to be determined on how successful they are but that ultimately has the biggest impact for the city of Mandan,” say judge Blake Feil owner of Feil Orthodontics.

The Nordic Steel System has been able to evolve the normal concrete foundation system by replacing old concrete and wood paneling with a 14 inch gauge steel that is ten times stronger than wood. They told me there’s no company like this in the next 3 states.

They say this product doesn’t just outlast the traditional home foundation systems but even more.

President of Nordic Steel, JC Dominguez, “But something that will be so much faster and easier and more precise. The panels when they arrive at the job site ensure angular dimensional precision. We also cut down on land fill waste by removing almost 40 or if not more the actual percent of the landfill waste at the job site.”

They say that their vision for the company is to have a 100 plus employees in the Mandan area and producing homes nationwide. They say it will take a little bit of time though.

Nordic Steel partner, Jared Stober says, “Obviously we are starting out somewhere. Right now we have a few customers and we are getting more customers and have a few builds lined up for the spring. We are just excited where we are and for the grand scheme of things this could be a job that can produce a lot of high manufacturing jobs.”

They offer advice for anyone planning on starting a business in the Mandan area.

“Go for it Mandan is a great place to start a business. And Mandan is a great place to begin a plan to go forward with something that you have dreamed about,” says Dominguez.

Both Dominguez and Stober said they were incredibly grateful for the Mandan Pitch Challenge. They say without the opportunity and the money they would not have been able to make this dream a reality.
