Five North Dakota Army National Guard Soldiers have been tasked with a cyber security mission.
They departed for Fort Meade, Maryland this month to protect the Department of Defense’s networks from cyber threats.
Due to the sensitivity of the job, the cyber team couldn’t tell us exactly what their day-to-day operations will be, but Sargent Andrew Stein says they will be working to protect our federal government from emerging cyber threats.
Sargent Stein adds, “This is up my alley. It’s going to be a very worthwhile mission. But of course, you have to be away from family, so not looking forward to that part.”
This is the North Dakota National Guard’s first cyber defense mission, but Sargent Stein says there will be many to come.
