North Dakota takes the lead in license suspensions

North Dakota has one of the highest percentages of suspended licenses in the U.S. That’s according to a report by Insurify Insurance company.

7.57 percent of licensed drivers have had their licenses suspended or revoked.
Police officials say they’re not surprised at this statistic.
They say that many times they pull over drivers who don’t even know their licenses are suspended.

“The one thing that people loose site of in North Dakota is we have low fines so they think well it’s not a big deal so they keep re-offending over and over again and they get that point limit where they have their 12 points built up they get suspended and they may or may not know and then they get pulled over under suspension and it just adds more points,” said captain John Klug with the Minot Police Department.

Klug suspects that the high number of DUI’s in the state also plays a big factor.
