After the NFL found the AMVETS #PleaseStand ad ‘too political’ last week, we decided to ask North Dakotans how they feel about the players taking a knee.

Although most people we spoke to were excited for game day, all were frustrated with how the NFL has handled the kneeling controversy. The shoppers felt that the players were being disrespectful to the flag and to the country. Some of the people we interviewed said that they opted not to watch many of the football games over the season, but they were still looking forward to watching the event with friends and family.

“I pay more attention to the teams that honor our flag. I really shy away, and I won’t watch teams that don’t. If they don’t stand for the flag, I don’t watch the game, and I don’t support that team,” says Peter Barrett, Patriots Fan.

None of the Football Players took a knee during the national anthem in the Big Game.
