Though she now holds a new title, Miss America Cara Mund’s most crowning achievement didn’t comes last night.
Mund was inspired by her friend, Amber DesRoches, to start the Make a Wish Passion with Fashion show 10 years ago.
The show raises money for the Make a Wish Foundation which grants wishes to kids diagnosed with life-threatening medical conditions.
Amber, who passed away from Leukemia in 2007, was part of Cara’s very first fashion show.
Amber’s mom says, from the beginning, she’s enjoyed watching her journey, and years later, Cara is beautiful inside and out.
“I’m just thrilled that she did this fashion show and became so strongly involved in it. And I think that’s part of her character and who she is,” Pam DesRoches, Make a Wish family member says.
It costs Make a Wish $7,000 to grant a single wish.
Mund’s fashion show raises enough money to grant a wish every year.
