It’s been named the number one truck stop in the state by MSN.com.
“The atmosphere has stayed the same, it’s family friendly,” said manager Joann Strobel.
And it’s been that way since the 70’s.
“Everybody is friendly up here –so we like the food up here real well and we come up here real often,” said regular customer Cal Webster.
“It’s nice to come to the counter and visit with people even it’s somebody I don’t know –everyone is friendly and everyone likes to visit,” said regular customer Paul Klokstab.
Joann Strobel has been working at Schatz for 27 years she says 75 percent of the customers who come in are regulars.
“The friendship between customer –employee relations are really good,” said Strobel.
Take Jerry Fosness he likes to come in 2 or 3 sometimes four times a day..
‘I usually have a breakfast–one of the early bird breakfast specials and a lot of times I come back for lunch specials –a lot of times I’m back for coffee like now,” said Fosness.
So what makes it so good?
“It’s made with love,I think a lot of people love to come in for out 99’s our 109’s, we serve a nice lump sum of food and it’s kind of what we’re known for,” said Strobel.
The truck stop is open 24 hours 7 days a week.
“I’ve only been here a couple of times but I plan on coming back when I come here,” said customer Melvin Whiee.
