A local police officer was recognized for his service today by the Optimist Club of Minot.
Minot Police officer Jared Foley received the Officer of the Year award at the ‘Respect for Law Luncheon.’
The Optimist Club focuses on youth oriented activities and holds the luncheon annually to honor Law Enforcement.
A committee separate from the club read the nomination letters and selected Officer Foley as the winner.
“You know, we choose an officer of the year, they get an award for their exemplary service and it’s just something that we like to do for our law enforcement members.” said Candace Brekke, President of the Minot Optimist Club.
“It’s nice to have that recognition, especially during the events of this week being the Police Week Remembrance. So its a good reminder what it is we do out there and it’s nice to have the recognition from the community as well.” said Jared Foley, Officer of the Year Recipient.
Along with being a Minot Police officer, Foley is a chairperson for the Eagle Scout Association of Minot and the Post Advisor for the Police Explorers.
