Soon, local residents will be able to enjoy the old train depot once again. It’s getting a revamp starting next week turning into a brewery, restaurant, and event venue.
“Next week is very exciting for us, everything’s been cleared and approved, and we’re going to start building,” said Dale Zimmerman.
He is the owner of downtown Bismarck’s Peacock Alley. He bought the building across the street 3 years ago, and finally got the approval to start the remodel.
“This was always part of the plan was to put a brewery inside that. Because we feel a brewery in the downtown community with the addition to, you know, the Peacock Alley, is really going to help enhance the experience of everybody in downtown.”
The side of the building that once held Fiesta Villa will be a venue for weddings and other events. Here, the west side of the building is where the restaurant and brewery is going to be. And this whole area outside where I’m standing will be a huge patio for all ages to enjoy. Dale says it’ll have a bit of a German theme.
“You can bring your kids down. You know, you can have a brat from Germany and your so can have a hot dog and root beer, and you can have a beer, whatever you want. I mean, we’re trying to be family without being Chuck E Cheese.”
Dale says that he has a bit of an aggressive construction timeline. The Brewery will be launching their beers at German Days in July, and the restaurant will have it’s debut Labor Day Weekend. Dale adds that the brewery won’t only sell beer. It will also have a full bar if beer isn’t your thing.
