The parking ramp project in the Magic City has been ongoing for several years.
The city is trying to complete this project, but it looks like there are a few more steps to take.
The city manager explained that they are trying to get the crane in the Renaissance parking ramp gone.
Right now, there are holes through the parking ramp that are supporting the crane.
The second thing they want done is having a roof on the parking ramp on Central Avenue.
The construction company submitted a project design, but it would only cover 20 percent of the building where the retail space will be.
This does not meet the code, so the city rejected the plan and is requiring a new design that meets all the requirements.
“We’re going to be requiring a 115% bond for performance if they do decide to go forward to cover our costs and any administrative overhead that we might have in order to take over the project incase of failure.” said Tom Barry.
A new project plan for the roof should be submitted by April 21st.
If the developer does not get the crane removed in the other parking ramp, the city will be taking steps to get it out.
Thanks Alexus.
