The merger of Minot’s Recreation Department with the Parks Department has been approved.

Last night, the Park Board unanimously voted to absorb the Recreation Department, taking it over from the control of the City of Minot.
The city council passed the same measure at its Monday night meeting.

Recreation Director Scott Collins says the combining of the two entities will mean better service to the public and an expansion of offerings from his department in the next several months.
The merger becomes official on April First.
