Many airports across the state were open Wednesday but many early morning flights were canceled.

Both Minot and Bismarck airport canceled three of their flights.
Those flights were headed to places like Chicago, Denver, and Minneapolis.
By mid-morning most flights were scheduled on time.
Flights leaving Williston, Dickinson, Grand Forks and Fargo were only scheduled to leave in the afternoon.

“A lot of mechanical devices, ground equipment, jet bridges, things like that don’t always want to operate when it’s cold. The airplanes can be temperamental sometimes when it’s cold we have to make sure that their water systems are drained and they don’t freeze up like a popsicle while they’re here,” said Minot Airport Director Rick Feltner.

Feltner adds that most of the flights were affected because of weather in other cities and not in North Dakota.
