UPDATE, 9:30 p.m.
The man was found dead inside his home around 8 p.m. from what the Bismarck Police say was a self-inflicted gun shot wound.
Police now say around 3:00 a gun shot was fired into the air and they activated a SWAT team immediately. The man with the gun ran into his house and barricaded himself following the initial shot.
The Bismarck Fire Department and MDU also showed up on scene after the SWAT team broke into the home and smelled natural gas.
The whereabouts of the second man are unknown. No charges are being made at this time.
UPDATE, 8:30 p.m.
Police have canceled the shelter in place surrounding the 200 block of S 1st Street.
UPDATE; 6:44 p.m.
Police say the man that has barricaded himself inside a building, is in his own home.
At around 4 p.m. today, the Bismarck Police Department posted to their Facebook page asking residents to stay out of the area of 200 block of S 1st St.
At 3:02 p.m. Bismarck Police received a call stating a robbery was taking place on 1st Street.
Once officers arrived on the scene, they tell us the incident involved 2 males. I male left and barricaded himself inside a building. A gun was reportedly involved.
Bismarck Police have blocked off 2 surrounding blocks and ask anyone within those two blocks to remain inside.
As of 6 p.m. Bismarck Police tell KX News they are trying to make contact with the man barricading himself inside the building.
Along with Bismarck Police, the Crisis Negotiations Unit, Burleigh County Sheriff’s Office, ND State Patrol, West Dakota SWAT and Bismarck Fire are at the scene.
