Halloween falls on a week day this year, but you can get in the spooky spirit ahead of time.
The Haunted Forest opens up Friday, October 26 at 8pm and will be open every night through Halloween. (scroll to the bottom of this story for address & directions)
It’s a fundraiser to support Gymagic, a nonprofit that is the only Gymnastics gym within 100 miles.
“I think if you want to be scared, this is the place to come. We are so excited about that,” Talli Danelson, director at Gymagic, said. “We have a lot of great volunteers for our actors.”
Becky Farr went to visit the haunted path without the 30 actors that will be there for the real thing, but she got a look at a little bit of what you can expect.
“We’ll have a projector here, and we’ll have spiders crawling and some sound there,” Danelson explained.
There’s many themes at the haunted forest, but no matter where you go, you’ll be so scared, you might just want to get out.
The storyline starts with the ghost of a missing girl …
“This is where we start our creepy childhood memories.”
Then comes along the home her family left behind .. which happens to be haunted by the ghost of a wild banshee.
“This is our cult scene. The cult was hired to rid the forest of an evil banshee.”
You are then haunted by zombies of the cult.
And because they’re especially creepy, some clowns, too.
The only way to get out is through the tunnel and a visit to the butcher shop.
Kristy and Daniel Jung, the people who lent their land to the cause and helped with two months of prep work, said they’re looking forward to frighten those who are willing to take on the Haunted Forest.
“I really hope to wow them and it’s something different,” Kristy said. “I love that there’s something going on in the community that people can participate in, something going on that’s fun. And the fact that we can offer that is exciting to us.”
100% of the ticket costs go to support Gymagic.
The cost is $15, or if you have a group of 10 or more, $10 per person.
