About 500 barrels of produced water spilled in Mountrail County Sunday, September 15th.
According to the North Dakota Department of Health a broken pipe connection at a salt water disposal facility owned by Basic Energy Services is to blame for the leak.
The produced water did impact agricultural land about 7 miles southeast of Tioga.
The State Department of Health is investigating the spill and the clean up.
Produced water is a byproduct of oil and gas development.
