About a dozen people were arrested yesterday near the site of protests against the Dakota Access Pipeline south of Mandan.
Morton County officials say several incidents throughout the afternoon and evening led to the arrests.
At about 2 pm, officers say about 20 protesters and two vehicles came onto the Backwater Bridge and, according to law enforcement officers, were tampering with the wire barricade and crossed the bridge, in violation of agreements between the two sides.
At about 5:45 pm, officials say about 100 protesters gathered at the bridge, tampered with the barricade, and removed the “No Trespassing” sign – you can see that on the right side of the video.
Officers responded with three less-than-lethal munitions.
577 people have now been arrested at the DAPL protest sites.
