Protesters Interrupt Governor’s Debate

News

All three Candidates for governor go head to head in Bismarck
It started this evening at the Belle Mehus Auditorium.
And, it started out with some controversy.
The question to all three was about the Dakota Access Pipeline.
Democratic Candidate for Governor Marvin Nelson said,”
The experts at work on these things should not have put it in a resource water protection area. So there have been mistakes from the beginning, now we have to pull back and look at it and we have to decide what we can do.”
Libertarian Candidate for Governor Marty Riske said,
“A federal judge took a considerable length of time, some people thought too long of time to fully determine in his due diligence and determine that everything was done properly in the pipeline builders. So, what happened immediately after that is that President Obama ignored the rule of law in the case of this federal judge.”
Republican candidate Doug Burgum said, “I think there’s an opportunity to open up a new dialogue, and maybe that dialog will take us to a future that takes us to a better place reguarding all these issues.”
Then a group of protesters walked down the aisles of the auditorium chanting  “Mniwiconi, water is life.”
Before the debate about 150 protesters were outside the Belle Mehus auditorium.
About 75 of those protester went inside.
After the outburst they protesters got up and left.
A moderator did ask the protestors to please adhere to the rules and there was security on stage.
Our reporter said the candidates remained calm, they seemed unshaken, and after the outburst, it was business as usual.
