MARION, OH (WCMH) – Ohio’s own groundhog, Buckeye Chuck agreed with Punxsutawney Phil’s weather prediction.
Chuck, from Marion, did not see his shadow Saturday morning, which means there will be an early spring.
This was Buckeye Chuck’s 40th year of predicting.
Chuck’s prediction came after Phil’s who also did not see his shadow and predicted an early spring.
The festivities have their origin in a German legend that says if a furry rodent casts a shadow on Feb. 2, winter continues. If not, spring comes early.
