Some kids got their first fix of summer yesterday.
It couldn’t have been a more beautiful day to spend cooling off in the water…
Many area families took full advantage of the sunshine and warm temps, AND opening day of a local waterpark.
Happening now…Emily Medalen is live from Raging Rivers-
Emily, how was the turnout yesterday?
Tim, as you can probably imagine, it was a full house here at Raging Rivers for the big summer kickoff yesterday.
The weather was beautiful, and people were already lining up before the doors even opened for the season.
Here’s how some families and friends spent their sunny afternoon.
“Running around the Raging Rivers, going down the slides, having a blast,” said Isaiah Harrington, Bismarck.
Hundreds made a splash at the waterpark for opening day to start their summers off right.
“They’re excited to get back. It’s kind of like their summer tradition, and their home,” said Kendra Weigel, Facility Supervisor.
Raging Rivers is a hot spot to cool down and catch some rays.
“I’m excited because of the big water slides, I like the lazy river because you can relax and everything…” said Sidney Ihla, Bismarck.
“For a lot of kids, this is their summer routine. Get here every morning, and go down the slides as many times as you can until you can’t walk up the stairs anymore,” said Kendra Weigel, Facility Supervisor.
They spent the day cruising down slides, floating down the lazy river, and splashing around in the kiddie pool…
Making memories, and even some new friends.
“It’s a blast. You want to meet new people? Come here. There’s tons of people here,”said Harrington.
The kids I spoke to all agreed on the best part.
“The coolest part is probably the waterslides,” said Ihla.
“I like the slides the most,” said Mason Bobb, Bismarck.
“Pretty sure my favorite part is going down the yellow slide.”
“I like the tube slide,” said Brennen Griffin and Logan Dockter, Bismarck.
And, of course…
“You can get a nice tan,” said Dockter.
That kid’s got the right idea.
Raging Rivers is now open for the summer, and if you plan on spending lots of time there this summer, you can get a season pass.
Tim, since it’s my first summer in Bismarck, I figure it’s only fitting that I do that.
