Today kicks off clean-up week in Bismarck, but as the City shared with us, there is a place to drop off re-usable items every week of the year.

At the City’s Hazardous Waste Facility, there is a re-use room. It’s open to the public for free.

People are welcome to come by to drop off paint, aerosols, cleaning supplies and even old electronics.

City of Bismarck Recycling Specialist Galen Bren says, “The idea is just kind of thanking the public, ‘Hey you’re bringing this stuff to us.’ We want it, we don’t want it in our landfill, so in the same sense we have this re-use room: a thank you that they can come and pick these things up. They can use it at home for their little projects, they don’t have to go out and buy it, just that much better.”

If you live outside city limits, there is a small charge for picking up or dropping off materials, but anyone is welcome to use the facility.

Hours for the re-use room are listed below:

 – Tuesdays and Thursdays – 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.,

 – and every first and third Saturday – 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
