The James River Correctional Center is home to over three hundred inmates and Saturday they got to experience a performance that left them with a lasting impression.
Renowned musician Eric Genuis is not just a well known pianist, singer, and composer but also an inspirational leader. He has been using his talents not just performing for popular concert halls, but correctional facilities all over the country.
“What I want to do is take world class musicians into places where the forgotten are
and expose them to just beauty and these instruments being played at an extremely high level
and uplift them,” Genuis says.
He has impacted inmates, veterans, and many other “forgotten” people all over the world.
Genuis music is that powerful and that is why the James River Correctional Center brought him in. People were laughing, crying, and in amazement with his music. Residents gave him a standing ovation and could not stop thanking him for playing for people like them, who rarely ever get acknowledged
Resident at James River Correctional Center, James Burns says, “It lets people know here that this is not the end of the road and no matter what we have done to be put here There’s things that we can grow from and grow into.”
Eric Genius goes by one mission and one mission only, and that is to positively impact culture through
the beauty of music.
