Roosevelt Park Zoo Welcomes Nigerian Dwarf Goats

These Nigerian Dwarf Goats, are about 15 or 20 pounds and they should almost double in size.

(Chelsea Lee/Lead North Trail Keeper) “They’re fun, they’re little. Everyone loves little things, babies. They’re still babies too so everyone loves ’em.”

They’re only 11 weeks old and have some interesting hobbies.

(Lee) “They love being up high.”

They jump, they climb, and they’ve got a lot of energy.

(Lee) “They’re a lot of work. They’re just like little kids, they love to investigate everything, check everything out.”

They’re named Bickle, Spelch, and Annabelle or “Andy” for short.

All named after people involved with the Community Rocks benefit concert.

Proceeds from the concert went to the Roosevelt Park Zoo for the brand new mini goat exhibit.

(Lee) “Who wouldn’t want to see baby goats running around? They’re fun, they’re entertaining that’s for sure and it’s also a beautiful day when you can come to the zoo, so.”

The completed exhibit with a bridge for the goats to cross overhead will allow for more interaction with the goats.
Construction is scheduled to finish up by the middle or end of June.
