Ruth Meiers Hospitality House is Making a Major Change

Bismarck’s Ruth Meiers Hospitality House is under new management.

Ruth Meiers began providing shelter services in 1987. Today, the facility has over 200 shelter beds and 110 affordable housing units.

The Board of Directors recently hired Lutheran Social Services to be the new property managers.

The LSS CEO says this will not affect residents living there now.

Lutheran Social Services ND CEO Jessica Thomasson says, “There’s no displacement of anyone who’s living there. Really it’s making more of those units that maybe aren’t occupied now, available to people.”

Thomasson says managing a property wasn’t necessarily the Ruth Meiers’ Board expertise, and it will be run smoother with the two non-profits working together.
