Heart disease is the leading cause of death for both American men and women. And February officially marks national heart month.
Sanford Health Cardiologist, Dr. Nayan Desai, talked to KX to tell us a little bit more about Sanford Health’s TAVR (Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacemenheart) procedure.
TAVR allows doctors to put in a heart valve without cutting through a patients chest. Dr. Desai says it is usually put through the patient’s leg and is a safer and quicker heart procedure than most.
Sanford Health is the only hospital in North Dakota that is currently doing this type of heart procedure. Sanford Bismarck has done 40 of these procedures so far. For more information. click here.
