The National Health Service recommends that people drink at least six to eight glasses of water per day.
Studies show that many people are drinking a lot less than that.
If you’re wondering if you have been drinking enough water you can do a skin test.
You pinch the skin on the back of your hand with your thumb and index finger.
Then hold it for a few seconds and let go.
If your skin goes back to normal right away – you are hydrated.
If not, your skin is telling you to drink more fluids.
“Our body is made up largely of water and if we don’t have enough water in our body we don’t have the fluid that we need to keep our organs and everything functioning appropriately,” said Beth Marschner, Physical Therapist/Athletic Trainer, MSU.
Marschner says that if you are sweating a lot, feeling dizzy, or becoming clumsy – those could also be signs of dehydration.
