As the Petroleum Council’s annual meeting was wrapping up at Minot’s Holiday Inn, a small group of protesters outside the hotel was turned away by police.
Five people carrying a mock pipeline were chanting “water is life” and “black snake killer” tried to get into the hotel.
But Minot Police told them it was private property and they had to take their protest to the public sidewalk along Burdick Expressway.
Meanwhile, another small group of protesters successfully took the stage in the closing moments of the meeting.
Police responded and the group left the stage without incident.
The Petroleum Council had arranged for extra security during the meeting in anticipation of possible protests.
