This year, there may be less people eating leftover turkey sandwiches through December.
According to Bloomberg.com, 12 to 14 pound turkeys are becoming more popular. They claim this smaller size trend is thanks to smaller families and growing concern over waste. Each year, an estimated 200 million pounds of turkey meat is thrown out over the Thanksgiving holiday.
But bigger turkeys haven’t been forgotten. We spoke to one shopper who bought a 25 pound turkey to share with friends over the weekend.
“I like the leftovers.” (What kind of leftovers do you do?) “I do turkey soup and casserole .. or sandwiches,” says Sandy Williams, Minot Resident.
For that reason, she said she doesn’t mind buying larger turkeys.
