The preliminary cause of death for two Mandan men has been released by authorities.

According to the Mandan Police Department, preliminary autopsy reports show 30-year-old Theodore A. Wilson and 62-year-old Louis Herrera died from the results of smoke inhalation.

Herrera and Wilson were found by the Mandan P.D. on Wednesday June 27th around 3:20 p.m. while responding to a welfare check and a possible medical emergency.

When Police arrived they found the two men deceased.

They also observed there had been a fire in the residence.

Mandan P.D. says it appears the fire started in one of the bedrooms, which caused significant damage to the bedroom. However it appeared the fire burned itself out.

The cause of the fire has not been determined.

Mandan Police are awaiting the State Fire Marshall’s conclusion on that cause.
